The trophy came by defeating 10 other schools including Parkway, West Ouachita, Lakeside, Sarepta, Haughton, Cedar Creek, Choudrant and Byrd.

The girls team of Ashlen Grantham, Kelsey and Kaila Wildes, Avery Watson, Lindsey and Nicole Kosin took the team runner-up trophy.

Each Varsity field had close to 100 runners.
"In the three years of cross country history at Calvary these two teams (girls and boys) are by far the fastest we have seen," Coach Linzie Hebert said.

"It is a huge honor to come into the season opener and take away titles against larger perinnelly stronger schools. I am extremely proud of our kids and the work they have put in over the summer to prepare," Hebert said.

The teams will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Loyola Snoopy Invite in Shreveport.
