After a week of soggy conditions, the Lady Cavs finally returned to the field Tuesday night against Magnet. Juniors Jordan Ward and Heather Stapleton combined to three hit the Lady Mustangs in a 13 to 6 victory. The Cavs scored five runs in the first and never looked back, as they struck for eight hits. Senior catcher Brittany Lafitte had two hits, one of which was a double. Senior Chandelle Scott, sophomore Brooke Lafitte, freshman Christy Fontenot, sophomore Kelsey Cook as well as Jordan and Heather added to the totals. The girls played well, though at times the rust did show for both squads. Brittany caught a Mustang trying to steal second base in the first inning, which kept them honest after that. An interesting double play occurred in the second inning as Brooke caught a fly in left and threw to Heather who threw to Paige for a 7-5-4 double play. |
