Calvary spotted Richwood an even dozen on the scoreboard, then stormed back with 21 unanswered points to even their record at 2-2 in a non-district game south of Monroe Friday night.

Richwood controlled the clock most of the first half of play and hit paydirt thanks to a Cavalier fumble at the Calvary 47 yard line. The Rams marched the distance in 10 plays with Chris Wheeler taking it in from five yards out, but the 2-point conversion failed.

With the Cavalier offense sputtering early in the game, the hosts scored again on a quarterback keeper by Anthony Abraham from the mid-field stripe. This time a kick for the point-after was blocked by the Cavaliers giving the hosts a 12-0 lead.

Calvary mounted a 6-play, 36-yard drive for their first touchdown of the night with 7:36 left in the first half. The score was set up by a long return of the kickoff by freshman Calvin Moody.

Sophomore quarterback, Nik McCarty punched across the goal line from the 1-yard line to cut into the Richwood lead. Luke Nicholls was good on his attempt for the point after making it 12-7 Rams.

Moody burst through the Richwood defense for another Calvary score with 6:27 left in the first half giving the Cavaliers a lead they would never lose. On the extra-point kick, the snap from center was high to holder McCarty who decided to tuck the ball and head for the endzone successfully increasing the Cavalier lead to 15-12 at intermission.

Nicholls would boot a 38-yard field goal with 5:35 remaining in the third period, after an impressive 81-yard, 12-play drive stalled.

The only score of the final period came following a Calvary interception of an Abraham pass. Again, the Cavaliers could not punch the ball across the goal line and Nicholls was called upon for a 24-yard field goal.

McCarty was the Cavaliers' leading rusher with 44 yards on 13 carries. Moody finished up with 33 yards with 17 totes.

McCarty connected successfully on 10-of-23 passing attempts for 174 yards. James Scroggins was McCarty's favorite receiver bringing in 110 yards with his five clutch catches.

Four other receivers caught passes from McCarty.

Calvary had a season-high 13 first downs and limited Richwood to only 11 in the same category. The Rams finished with 194 yards on the ground and 77 through the air.

Both teams were bitten by the fumble bug with Calvary losing 2-of-3 dropped balls while the Rams fumbled away once in three miscues.

Calvary had one more play than the hosts collecting 247 total yards in 55 plays to Richwood's 271 yards with 54 plays from scrimmage.
